I thought I was ordering a stretchy silicone cover, Gelaskins are actually a very thin removeable static cling decal. The cutouts fit perfectly, are super thin and when removed leave no glue. They can be lifted and repositioned as needed. Very sleek and smooth once installed. NO BUBBLES like installing tinted window film. A litle pricy at $18, but well worth it if you see a pattern you like. The best part is that you can buy a different one in a year or so if you want a new look. -- Gelaskins are very good
While the graphics on the Gelaskin are great... it's name does not aptly describe it.
I was expecting/hoping for a product that would give my Kindle some tactile "grippyness". There is simply no rubbery or "gel" type feel to this product. It is a lovely graphic that adheres to your Kindle.... nothing more, nothing less. -- Gelaskins for Kindle
It is very colorful and bright.It was not what I was expecting. When it said Gelaskin I thought it was more like the soft rubber that they have for the phones so that if it is dropped it adds more protection. -- Gelaskin
When I purchased this item, I was not aware that it was simply a sticker that adheres to the front and back of the Kindle. I was under the impression that it was literally a gel like cover, much like the ones you can buy for an ipod or the Wii controllers. But that's my fault for not looking into it more. I'm very happy with the design of this cover; it really gives my Kindle personality. However, I'm not exactly sure just how much it will protect my Kindle. Yes, it will keep the covered areas from scratches, but the keys and screen are left unprotected. It was also extremely difficult to apply to the front of the Kindle and doesn't seem to fit on evenly. Overall, this product seems to be just for looks and not for protection. -- Still not sure about this cover.
